heading heritage of nature

After having explored and expressed the traditional values in his works, Dr Choong further explored into the heritage of Nature. In his expedition into the Endao Rompin rain forest, he was inspired to produced the Rhythm of Growth, Rockscape and Earthscape series. In The Rhythm of Growth Series he expressed the relationship of "The Circle of Life and Death" and the co-existence of beings in Nature. The Rockscape series was an attempt to reveal the eternal and ephemeral of Nature which shows the contrasting yet complementing relationship of Ying and Yang as well the nature to withstand the gradual erosion process and seasonal changes. The Earthscape series on the other hand manifests the notion that all things "Spring Forth From The Bowels of Earth, Live on Earth and Return to Earth". The techniques and media used in this section included hand sculpting, painting, staining and spraying on canvas and paper pulp with acrylic colours to form 2-D and relief works
