It is about an expedition into Endou Rompin which led to enlightenment.

In response to the environment conservation campaign, a group of artists and Dr Choong made an expedition into the tropical forest of Endou Rmpin in 1985 as an attempt to have a better understanding of natural heritage. In the forest, he realized and was enlightened by the growing and ageing process of nature. And through observing the relationship between the lingzhi (a kind of mushroom) and dead wood trunk, he discovered the cycle of the life in Nature.

Paper pulp fibre was used to hand sculpt the lingzhi, staining & spraying techniques were employed to portray its characteristics. The sculpted lingzhi were then assembled to form relief works. The tactile surface and portrayed circular rings on the forms aptly suggested the characteristics and rhythmic growth of life in nature.
